Sedo company held a poll among specialists in advertising and marketing to learn about their attitude towards new top-level domains launch. During the poll 361 employees of advertising and marketing companies on the whole USA territory were questioned.
The results of the poll turned out to be quite controversial. Firstly it turned out the advertising market is not really familiar with future changes in Internet. Just 25% of the polled knew that new top-level domains would be soon launched. 54% respondents confessed they had no idea about that. The last 21% had heard something about new domains but couldn’t explain exactly what.
70% of advertising specialists and marketing experts have never discussed with their clients a possibility of promotion their goods and services in Internet with the help of new top-level domains. And 18% haven’t discussed this possibility but suppose to do it in the nearest future. And just 12% of respondents have held such negotiations.
Speaking about possible problems connected with new top-level domains appearance the majority of respondents (62%) supposed that their launch could hinder navigation and searching for info in Internet. Here it should be noted that the polls have been held in the USA where the majority of Internet users can have no idea about the web-addresses other than with .com ending existence.
Thus the advertising market looks not real ready for new top-level domains appearance. At the same time it is looking on their appearance optimistically, justified by other data of the same polls.
59% respondents said that they are ready to concern using domains registered in new domain zones in their campaigns. Almost the same number (57%) expressed confidence that unusual web-addresses would not cause rejection either with clients nor with advertising campaigns audience. And just 12% of respondents believe that in no circumstances they will register second-level domains in new domain zones with professional aims. The others believe that such possibility this or that way can be useful.
