AIDA Cruises, one of the leading German cruise companies is declined the complaint settlement addressed to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The subject of the complaint has become domain aida.com which was claimed by the German company. However it turned out that the current owner of the domain had purchased it for his two-year old daughter Aida. As a proof the defensor showed the certificate of the girl’s birth. The documents confirming purchasing of three other domains for his three other children became the additional argument.
WIPO commission considered the complaint in the frames of the uniform domain name dispute-resolution policy (UDPR) and has come to the conclusion that there is no fraudulent intent and encroachments for AIDA Cruises intellectual property in the defender's actions. Thus the cruises organizers will have to look for another domain name. Or it will have to try to peacefully settle the argument with the young aida.com owner’s parents.
