Rick Schwartz opened ‘Hall of Shame’

Businessman Rick Schwartz, one of the most noticeable person of the domain business and the owner of non-official title “domain king”, declared on opening of the site “Hall of Shame” (similar to the be-known Hall of Fame). There will be published names of people and companies who tried to unfairly own someone else’s domain names here.

Similar practices are quite wide-spread: not wanting to pay for appealing domain names many businessmen and large companies address to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) or to the Arbitrary Court with complains for the domain names owners accusing them of unfair use of the name and intellectual rights violation. In some cases such tactics is successful. But even if WIPO or Arbitrary Court decline the complaints and state the complainers themselves guilty of unfair obtaining someone else’s domain name, there are no legal implications.

Rick Schwartz is planning to change the situation by knocking the reputation of someone else’s domain names hunters. Henceforth all the companies and individuals whose actions have been qualified as an attempt of unfair obtaining someone else’s domain names will be represented on hallofshame.com site.

It’s worth mentioning that the list promises to be quite impressive. Just this year the regulating authorities stated as unfair complaints of such manufacturing giants as Procter and Gamble and Jaguar/Landrover.
