First new gTLD to be rejected is .mii According to ICANN's String Similarity Panel, .mii will be rejected by ICANN as it is too similar to the US Department of Defense's gTLD, .mil.
The applicant for .mii was MiTek USA, which also applied for .connector, .mitek and .sapphire. As Kevin Murphy, a DomainIncite expert says, "all four of its applications will be formally rejected when ICANN publishes its Initial Evaluation results". MiTek didn’t answer the basic questions in the new gTLD application, stating “TLD will not be resold. Purchased for brand protection only.” on almost every line instead.
