Two companies have officially sacked their applications for .cialis and .chatr. At the moment, ICANN has one more request for application withdrawal, but the information on it has not yet been revealed.
Eli Lilly, a pharmaceutical company, has withdrawn its bid for .cialis, while .chatr was withdrawn by Rogers Communications, a company representing Canadian telecom operator Chatr. Therefore, both withdrawn applications fall into .brand category. No other applicants have contested these domain bids.
Other withdrawn applications include Google with its .and, .are and .est, which are protected three-letter country codes and therefore cannot be registered by the company, and German company KSB that withdrew its .ksb bid.
Each application cost the companies $185,000; however, the applicants that withdrew their bids at this moment are eligible for 70% refund, or $130,000 per each filed application.
