New gTLD application system (TAS) will reopen its work on may 22

ICANN COO Akram Atallah stated that New GTLDs Application System would re-open its activity on May 22 2012. It is supposed that the access of applicants will be kept open for 5 business days. The closing date of applications registration is scheduled for May 21, 2012 (taking into account that May 28 is a Memorial Day being a holiday in the USA).

ICANN states that the technical software glitch in TAS which occurred on April 12 did not affect any of the TAS users. “We have no evidence that any of the users intentionally did anything wrong in order to be able to see other users’ information. Notification of applicants was completed who could have been affected by the software glitch was completed of May 8.

As the completed data base analysis uncovered the large majority of users are unaffected by the glitch. The analysis of registration data base continues and any information that emerges will be immediately shared with the TAS users.

ICANN also informs of another group of glitches that occurred in the system: as a result of these interruptions some applicants could have viewed a set of system generated file names. As it appears from the statement ICANN representatives hope that this set of glitches has not affected any users or the work of the system.

Full text of the statement is published on ICANN website.
