Modern cybersecurity threats discussed at ENOG 16

On June 3-4, the 16th Forum of Eurasia Network Operators Group (ENOG 16) was held in Tbilisi. Over 350 internet experts from 31 countries were in attendance. As ENOG’s long-standing partner, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ served as the forum’s Silver Sponsor. The center’s experts shared their recent developments and learned more about their colleagues’ experience at the forum meetings and discussions.

Over two days, the forum participants discussed the most relevant issues of today’s internet, such as traffic exchange, routing security, IPv4 runout, DNSSEC implementation and the nature of modern threats to information and cybersecurity. The Coordination Center’s Deputy Director for Legal Issues Sergei Kopylov participated in discussions concerning legal affairs and discussed the approaches to legal support for the internet infrastructure’s operations in different countries.

The celebration of the 25th anniversary of the .RU domain continued at the ENOG 16th forum. The Coordination Center stand presented anniversary memorabilia. Visitors could talk to center representatives and learn more about Russian TLDs and the center’s work.

The idea to establish an ENOG Meeting was introduced at the 7th International RIPE Regional Meeting held in Moscow in October, 2010, with the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ being one of the initiators. The first meeting of the Eurasia Network Operators Group was held in Moscow in June, 2011. Since then, Moscow has hosted six ENOG meetings, with Russia hosting a total of 9 of 16 ENOG conferences in general. This forum gives technology experts from Eastern Europe and the CIS countries an opportunity to exchange experience and knowledge in the region’s development of the internet and network technologies. It is a new way to communicate and develop common approaches within the internet technology community.
