TLDCON 2026 – the 19th International Conference for ccTLD Registries and Registrars of Eastern Europe and Central Asia – completed its work on September 23 in the capital of Uzbekistan. Organized by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and the Russian Institute for Public Networks (RIPN), the event brought together leading regional experts to discuss strategic challenges and future trends in developing internet infrastructure.

Participants spent the two days of the conference by holding animated debates and discussions on a wide range of topics dealing with the latest developments, including expert conversations on the way artificial intelligence affects cybersecurity for domain ecosystems, new proactive approaches to combating DNS Abuse, and ways to balance accessibility and security when relying on specific domain operation frameworks.

The Youth Session was one of the conference’s highlights on its final day. Moderated by Anastasia Savelyeva from the St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications, the session focused on exploring opportunities for engaging young specialists in internet governance processes.

In fact, decisions currently being made within this sector will shape and define the future professional environment. The panel discussions offered its participants an opportunity to discuss the required competences, the role of educational initiatives and the importance of mentorship with a special emphasis on promoting open dialog. Representatives of registries, registrars and partner organizations talked about opportunities to start a career in the domain sector.

Speakers at this session included ICANN’s Seher Sağıroğlu Ayhan, Amina Meirasbek from DotAsia, Ulyana Stolyarova representing Telecom Research Center, Ivan Skorokhodov from Bauman Moscow State Technical University (InData Foundation), Irina Kharitonova from the Moscow Institute of Radio, Electronics and Automatics and RIPN, Zeinep Kanatbekova from the Kazan State Technical University and RIPN, and Viktoria Nushtayeva, Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics.

Chair of the conference’s program committee, Andrey Romanov, summed up TLDCON 2026’s outcomes by praising its participants for their proactive contribution.

“This active involvement demonstrates the relevance and importance of the topics on TLDCON’s agenda. I would like to thank everyone for engaging in constructive debates and hope that his dialog continues at our future conferences,” he said.

Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev presided over the closing ceremony. In his remarks, he said that TLDCON remains a unique platform not only for sharing best practices on technical matters, but also for coming up with consolidated approaches to developing national domain zones and training new talent for this sector.

“It is important for us to get feedback from the professional community and understand what matters for participants so that we can all discuss these matters together. TLDCON offers the opportunity to touch base, as they say, share best practices and outline plans. It is this kind of dialogue that helps understand where the sector is moving and what objectives we will be tackling together,” Andrey Vorobyev pointed out.
