The Youth Council of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ took part in a conference of cyber-volunteers organized by the CyberSecurity School, a project of the Movement of the First. The event was held from August 26-28 at the SHUM youth media development center in the Kaliningrad Region and brought together some 180 teenagers aged 14 to 17 from various regions of Russia.
As part of the project’s case-study track, representatives of the Coordination Center conducted the Explore the Internet & Govern It quiz for the participants and invited one of the teams to craft a new thematic round focused on audio and video podcasts.
The team worked on the project over three days, ultimately producing 28 questions in seven categories – covering the history of podcasting, key terminology, production techniques, genres, platforms, records, fun facts, and the podcast industry as a whole. The new round was developed in both Russian and English, making it accessible to quiz participants from different countries.
In addition to writing the questions, the team created a visual design for the new round on a flipchart and recorded not one but two videos presenting their work.
The team was guided by expert mentors, including Andrei Aleinikov, Head of the Public Relations Group and Chairman of the Coordination Center’s Youth Council; other members of the Youth Council; Sergei Tyumin, Head of the Student Research Department at MTUCI University; and Alina Ivanova, Chair of the MTUCI Student Scientific Society.
The project’s theme was chosen intentionally: the Coordination Center’s Youth Council is currently producing its own podcast, Digital Reality, so working on this case study offered a valuable opportunity to share hands-on experience in audio content creation and, together with the participants, explore podcasting from a fresh perspective.
