New design and functions in Explore the Internet & Govern It quiz

The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ has unveiled a major update to the flagship interactive section of its educational project, Explore the Internet & Govern It, – the Quiz.

Above all, the quiz has been completely redesigned to match the website’s updated visual style. The graphics, button design, and overall interface have all been refreshed. Particular attention has been given to the thematic icons, which are now rendered in a modern 3D format, giving the interface a more dynamic look while making it easier for users to navigate between topics. At the same time, the developers have preserved the simplicity and intuitiveness of the interface, ensuring that all elements remain easy to use.

One of the most significant technical improvements is full mobile responsiveness. Users can now take part in the quiz from any smartphone or tablet, with the interface automatically adapting to different screen sizes while preserving readability and intuitive navigation. A dedicated full-screen mode has also been introduced for classrooms equipped with projectors or interactive whiteboards. With a single click, the website header and footer disappear, maximizing the available screen space and ensuring that quiz content is clearly visible to the entire audience.

The quiz mechanics have also been updated. A single game can now accommodate up to ten players or teams, significantly expanding opportunities for group participation while preserving the familiar and intuitive gameplay. Each participant starts with a clean slate, selects questions of varying difficulty, and competes on both speed and accuracy in an effort to earn the highest score. Thanks to the straightforward interface, users can begin playing almost immediately, with no lengthy instructions or training required.

“This update has been a long time in the making. The quiz is often people’s first introduction to the Explore the Internet & Govern It project, so it plays a key role in shaping users’ first impressions of our work to promote digital literacy. The new version features a fresh design, faster performance, and seamless usability across all devices. This flexibility will help ensure that the quiz remains an effective educational tool in a wide variety of environments,” says Viktoria Bunchuk, Head of Social Projects at the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.

The quiz offers several thematic categories that allow educators to tailor content to different audiences. The Main category covers a broad range of digital topics from the history of the internet and network architecture to online safety and the principles behind web services. Children presents similar themes in simplified language with clear, age-appropriate examples. The Tech section is designed for ICT professionals and features more advanced, specialized questions. The IDN section focuses on multilingualism and Universal Acceptance, while ENG includes questions in English, allowing participants to strengthen both their digital literacy and their professional English vocabulary and pronunciation.

The updated quiz is a universal educational tool. Teachers and instructors can use it to introduce new material, review classroom topics, or assess students’ knowledge and skills. In schools, it helps make lessons more dynamic and engaging, even for schoolchildren who might otherwise show little interest in digital literacy. Colleges and universities can incorporate the quiz into lectures and seminars as an interactive assessment or a starting point for discussion. At conferences and industry events, it serves as an engaging addition to the program, giving participants an opportunity to test their knowledge and exchange ideas in an informal setting.

Access to the quiz is available to all registered users of the Explore the Internet & Govern It platform. Registration is free and takes only a few minutes using either the standard sign-up form or a verified VKontakte account.
