Experts from the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ are actively participating in the BRICS Civil Council’s activities, preparing expert recommendations for the BRICS Civil Forum 2026, which is scheduled to take place in New Delhi, India.
Digital transformation and artificial intelligence have been primary focuses of these efforts. During a roundtable, New Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in BRICS Countries: Challenges and Prospects for Cooperation, participants discussed the development of digital platforms and standards, ensuring technological sovereignty, the application of artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity issues. The discussion featured contributions from Viktoria Bunchuk, Head of Social Projects at the Coordination Center, and Yevgeny Pankov, data analyst.
Technological cooperation was further explored at the international conference, Strengthening BRICS Connectivity: Fostering Cooperation, organized by the BRICS Expert Council-Russia jointly with the Observer Research Foundation (India) under the auspices of the BRICS Think Tanks Council. Participants examined issues related to digital sovereignty, the development of technical infrastructure, AI regulation, and cooperation in education and personnel training. The event attracted experts from Russia, India, Egypt, the UAE, South Africa, China, Iran, Brazil, and Ethiopia. The Coordination Center was represented at the conference by its Director, Andrey Vorobyev.
Another critical area of the Council’s work involves education and human capital development. The BRICS Expert Council-Russia convened a meeting of the BRICS Civil Council’s international Working Group on Education and Human Development. Attendees included human capital development experts, along with heads and specialists from various educational organizations. The meeting produced proposals aimed at advancing academic cooperation and mobility, integrating digital technologies into the educational process, and implementing joint research projects.
During a subsequent meeting of the international working group, experts discussed proposals submitted by representatives of the BRICS nations and agreed on the next steps for preparing consolidated recommendations. The meeting was attended by Andrey Aleinikov, head of the public relations group at the Coordination Center.
Olga Rubtsova, Co-Chair of the BRICS Civil Council working group, presented a package of recommendations from Russia that will be incorporated into the final document for the BRICS Civil Forum 2026. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to further develop cooperation, exchange expertise, implement joint initiatives, and foster an inclusive educational environment.
