An official ceremony to cancel a commemorative postcard marking the 25th anniversary of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ was held on July 14 at Russia’s Civic Chamber. The postcard features a “25 Years in Orbit” logo, a star system, and a globe overlaid with a symbolic internet network. The Coordination Center, in partnership with the Marka company, issued two postcards for the anniversary, with a total print run of 1,000 copies.
A special souvenir postmark was also created for the occasion and was used to cancel both the postcard and the attached postage stamp titled “Russian National Domain .RU.”
The cancellation ceremony drew a roster of officials and industry figures, including Alexander Shoitov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media of the Russian Federation; Dmitry Terekhin, head of the Presidential Directorate for the Development of Information and Communication Technology and Communication Infrastructure; Alexey Platonov, Director of MSK-IX, long-time former head of the Russian Institute for Public Networks (RosNIIROS); Alexander Ivanyuk, head of the Russian Association for Networks and Services; Kirill Izotov, director of the Russian Institute for Public Networks (RosNIIROS); Veronika Maksimenkova, director of Marka; and Andrey Vorobyev, director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.
According to Andrey Vorobyev, state postal payment signs reflect the history of our country – its achievements, culture, traditions, nature, memorable events, and family values. They also serve the important mission of patriotic education and preserving historical memory for future generations.
“This commemorative cancellation ceremony is the official presentation of a new state postal symbol, intended to draw public attention,” he emphasized.
“This is not the first time we have participated in producing commemorative stamps to mark significant milestones in Russia’s web domain space. In 2015, we issued a card to mark the registration of the five millionth .RU domain name,” he recalled. “In 2019, we released a commemorative stamp for the 25th anniversary of the .RU domain. In 2024, a commemorative postcard was issued for the 30th anniversary of .RU, and last year, we issued a card for the 15th anniversary of the .РФ domain.”
