Next week, on June 8, ICANN86 Policy Forum will open in Seville, Spain.
Participants in the four-day forum to be held offline and online will discuss internet policy development, the second round of the New gTLD program, consequences of DNS abuse, implementation of Universal Acceptance, and other relevant topics.
As always, the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) has prepared an extensive program for ICANN86. On June 10, Deputy Director of the Coordination Center Irina Daneliya will speak at the ccTLD news session organized by ccNSO. She will cover changes in domain registration that will take effect on September 1, 2026, and share experience in preparing registrars for these changes. She will also clarify how the changes will impact registries, registrars and registrants.
Domain regulation is a topic to be discussed at other ccNSO sessions as well. On June 9, a session is scheduled on regulatory trends on DNS resilience affecting ccTLDs. Participants will talk about current global regulatory changes that affect DNS resilience. Experts will share their opinions about new DNS resilience policies and their potential impact on country-level domains. Key risks and trends will also be covered, along with the role of ccTLD in the process.
On June 8, ccNSO will hold the traditional Tech Day. Open to all ICANN community members, the event will offer sessions on technical, operational and security issues. It is a platform where participants can share best practices and discuss technical and operational aspects concerning registries, security and other DNS issues. This year’s Tech Day is open to all members of the ICANN community and will include sessions on technical, operational and security issues.
On June 10, a session will take place on responding to and alleviating DNS abuse. Participants will discuss practical examples and best practices. They will consider further measures to improve coordination between national registries and boost the effectiveness of cooperation between registries and registrars around the world. The organizers note that abusers attack all top-level domains indiscriminately regardless of the country, and this discussion is timely and relevant for everybody involved in DNS security.
