The lesson was designed for a wide range of listeners, which included all three main categories of RIF visitors: IT specialists in every sense, Internet entrepreneurs and students. On the afternoon of May 19, a discussion “The Metaverse: Will It Benefit?” was held in the tent of the Coordination Center, hosted by Marina Rozhkova (IP CLUB) and Sergey Kopylov (Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ). Internet Ombudsman Dmitry Marinichev and Maria Samartseva, a representative of the “Rybalkin, Gortsunyan, Dyakin & Partners” (RGD) law firm, became the speakers, and all the listeners took part in the discussion. “The emergence of the metaverse is actually a preparation of people for the fact that very soon they will have to live in the same world with robots. But there will be no metaverses until we have 5G, 6G - and this restructuring will take at least 15 years," Dmitry Marinichev noted.

The panelists also talked about whether the metaverse improves the existing reality or whether it is a threat to the very existence of humanity. Obviously, the metaverse was conceived not only for the entertainment of users - computer games, communication, watching shows and films, but also implies business use - creating a desktop with any number of monitors, participating in virtual meetings, connecting the necessary services. But will it be useful to people?
