Schoolchildren invited to participate in Explore the Internet & Govern It

On August 25 and 26, the Innovative Education and Development Academy and the Vneshkolnik Magazine held an online meeting for representatives of schools participating in the Safe Information Environment for Children project and a seminar, Not a Teachers’ Council: Finding Answers Together. The participants discussed developing a study program based on the principle of information transparency. The teachers also talked about the results of the State Council meeting, held the day before, where government officials discussed Russian regions’ goals concerning general education.

More than a hundred questions had been submitted before the meeting. The participants certainly could not avoid looking at the problems of information security and ways to teach children digital literacy in the context of digitalization of most aspects of our life, including the learning process. Many initiatives and projects implemented by socially responsible organizations in the IT industry, including the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, focus on this matter. In particular, Explore the Internet & Govern It is a game (the most popular format among young internet users) that explains the history and structure of the internet, and teaches children how to use online services safely, how to protect their personal data, and other aspects of safe internet browsing.

Head of social projects at the Coordination Center Tatyana Novikova announced the start of registration for the tenth annual nationwide online championship and mentioned the 2021 theme of the event – Digital State – and some of the new tasks. She invited schoolchildren and teachers to participate in the championship to be held in November. All participants, even those who will not win any prizes, will receive personal diplomas to add to their portfolios. The winners (now the top five in the ranking) will receive excellent prizes from the organizer and partners of the project, including tablets, smartphones, smart watches, 3D pens and other useful devices. The project is organized by the Coordination Center; the general partner is Rostelecom. The Innovative Education and Development Academy and the Vneshkolnik magazine are the official information partners of Explore the Internet & Govern It.
