9th DOT Journalism 2021 contest kicks off at RIF 2021 main stage

On May 21, the 9th annual contest for internet journalists, DOT Journalism 2021, opened at the main stage of the Russian Internet Forum 2021. The competition for professional and novice internet journalists who write about domains and other internet addressing systems is held by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and RAEC, with the support of the Smart Internet Foundation, ROCIT, REG.RU.

Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Andrey Vorobyev and RAEC press service head Yekaterina Vorobyeva opened the competition. “Nine years ago, we started this contest in order to create a pool of journalists who write about the internet and the domain industry. We can see that it worked. Journalists from leading media outlets who won the competition over the years are now taking part in the jury, and applications are coming from both central and regional publications,” Andrey Vorobyev said.

“In the beginning, journalists often asked us what a domain was. And now there is a large circle of journalists who are experts in the domain industry and the internet in general, and who are ready to cover such events in their publications,” Yekaterina Vorobyeva added.

Andrey Vorobyev and Yekaterina Vorobyeva thanked the companies and organizations that support the holding of DOT Journalism, and presented them with certificates of appreciation for partnership with the competition. The certificates also went to organizations and companies that provide the competition with permanent assistance. Awards and presents were given to the Smart Internet Foundation, ROCIT and REG.RU.

Irina Danelia, Deputy Director of the Smart Internet Foundation, noted the importance of holding the DOT Journalism contest for aspiring journalists. “For all these years, the foundation has supported young correspondents who took part in DOT Journalism, and this year, young journalists can submit an application for any category. The internet should have as much positive content created by professionals as possible, and the competition promotes that in full measure,” Irina Danelia said.

Applications for DOT Journalism 2021 will be accepted until November 1, 2021. The results will be announced at the Russian Internet Week 2021, and the winners will receive certificates and valuable prizes. More about the competition, categories and rules can be found at the дот-журналистика.рф website.

The jury will comprise heads of press services of organizations involved in the domain industry, as well as representatives of the international organizations ICANN and RIPE NCC.

The contest will accept articles, reports, and analytical materials on domain events and related subjects. Submissions must be written and published from January 1 to November 1, 2021. Submissions are accepted in the following categories:
