The value of connectivity is much higher than that of alienation

On November 26, Director of the Coordination Center for TLD.RU/.РФ Andrey Vorobyev held an interview with Dmitry Peskov, special presidential representative on digital and technological development and general director of the NTI Platform at the Peering Forum MSK-IX.

The interview was devoted to the government technology policy and future dimensions of technological business in Russia. Andrey Vorobyev and Dmitry Peskov discussed future models of doing business during the crisis and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on digitalization of different branches of the Russian economy, government policy on regulating the internet, problems of information security and personnel training for the digital economy and future dimensions of technological business in Russia.

They paid special attention to the fragmentation of the internet. Dmitry Peskov noted that many states will now have to uphold their sovereignty in the global information space but in the end all countries will still have to reach agreement on cooperation in the global network and the unity of the internet. “The value of connectivity is much higher than that of alienation,” Dmitry Peskov said.

“The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ takes part in the Peering Forum every year, and this year was not an exception despite its unusual format. This is a wonderful opportunity to tell a broad audience about the development of the internet and not only about technology but also about political and legal aspects. I am very grateful to MSK-IX and MSK-IX General Director Yelena Voronina personally for organizing our online interview,” said Andrey Vorobyev after it was over.

MSK-XI is 25 years old in 2020. By tradition, its birthday is marked by holding a Peering Forum – the annual conference for the online community. This year the Peering Forum MSK-IX 2020 is being held as a series of online meetings with leading Russian and international experts, managers and internet technology researchers. The event will end on December 3 with a meeting with the MSK-IX team that will tell the audience about the platform’s news and its services.
