On November 1, 2019, the deadline closed for the seventh annual DOT Journalism contest for journalists writing about domains and other internet addressing systems.

Over 200 pieces of work were submitted by journalists. Some 140 of them are taking part in the categories for professional journalists, while over 60 submitted their work to the young journalists’ category, which was established for young correspondents under the age of 18 who publish their work in school and municipal media, write about internet technology on their blogs or social network pages.

The jury members of DOT Journalism comprise heads of press services of organizations related to the domain industry, as well as professional journalists, and experts in online technologies. They can also nominate any piece of journalism work that has not been submitted for participation.

The winners in the competition will be announced during Russian Internet Week (RIW 2019), which will take place on December 12-13 at the World Trade Center in Moscow. The best pieces of work will be selected in the six main categories and three special ones: Young Correspondents, Internet Governance, and the 25th Anniversary of the .RU domain. The winners will receive certificates and prizes: electronic devices, board games, certificates for domain name registration and hosting, as well as souvenirs from the contest organizers and partners.

Competition organizers: The Coordination Center for .RU/.РФ and the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC). The official registrar: REG.RU. Partners: The Regional Public Center of Internet Technology (ROCIT) and the Smart Internet Foundation.

The aim of the contest is to encourage journalists who devote their articles, analytical material and reports to the trends and events in the domain industry, key events related to the use of the DNS and other systems of internet addressing.
