ICANN issues warnings to seven registrars

The domain name registrars in question are HaveaName, InstantNames, MisterNic, Netestate, NeuDomain, OpenName, and TopSystem. All are based in the United States and appear to be owned by the same individual, with Alexey Gromov listed as the contact person for each of them.

These companies have fallen more than a year behind on their required payments to ICANN. This situation arose shortly after they lost their Verisign accreditation in late 2024, which prevented them from managing domain names in the .COM zone. ICANN has now given them until April 17 to resolve the issue and provide a response.

However, according to Domain Name Wire, this outcome seems highly unlikely. None of the registrars have replied to ICANN’s warnings, while most of their websites are inactive and their SSL certificates have expired.

If the situation remains unresolved, the registrars will lose their ICANN accreditation, and any domain names they manage will be transferred to other companies. Yet, even this scenario appears improbable, as it is likely that these registrars no longer manage any domain names at all.
