After graduation worked at the Kurchatov Institute. Took part in the development of the internet in Russia (RELCOM, RBnet, Russian Institute of Public Networks, RELARN).
1995-1998: Adviser to the general director of the Federal Agency of Government Communications and Information.
2008-2010: Russian Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media; head of the Development of the Supercomputers and Grid Technology project at the Presidential Commission for Modernization and Technological Development of the Russian Economy. Head of the Chair of Computer Engineering Modeling at the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI; organized and headed the Nanotechnology and Informatics Department (currently the Department of Nano, Bio, Information Technology and Cognitive Science) at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Adviser to the Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
